LIFE: Australia Day

So on Australia Day I went to the City at Docklands with my dad, my cousins and their parents and had such a fun time so I decided to just post all the pictures I took that night.

OH SHIT, NOW YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I LOOK LIKE

JANUARY FAVOURITES MMXIV

This is my first favourites for the year, and probably my first favourites ever. Decided I might as well start this year on a good note of basic blog posts people do so I am showcasing two products I have discovered and rediscovered the past month.

After using my E.l.f Eyebrow Filler & Lifter, I began to realise my shade (forgotten the name) was too dark for me. Although the consistency was great and waxy I decided to try something different. I saw this and decided to try it out because it reminded me of the first eyebrow pencil I used which was a Rimmel one. It is a basic pencil and the colour is exactly the same as the packaging and it's great for building up colour from sheer to bold. I think I prefer this to my e.l.f one but I'm still want to try out some more eyebrow products.

I stopped using this for a few months and turned to Rosehip Oil as a moisturiser. But last month I turned back to this and remembered how lightweight and nice this smelt. This also contains Rosehip anyway and a bunch of over oils and leaves like Horsetail (Don't be scared like I was at first, it's a plant) It has great ingredients that you can understand pretty much all of them which is fantastic.

This year I'm going into VCE (HSC in other states) so I've pretty much done some new touches to my room like getting a new three box shelf and a replacing my old, ugly ass desk I've had pasted down from my sister years ago. It didn't match my room at all and it was so bulky. I went to Ikea with my dad last week and we assembled this desk and I'm so inlove. It has four shelves on the right side (but when assembling you can pick either left or right) and I put all my books and stuff that I don't really reach for often. It has a drawer and a cable hole that goes to a cable tidy underneath the desk. I'm rambling but I love this so much and I'm excited to use it for this year. If you guys want a desk tour I'm more than happy to do one!

Tell me your favourites for this month in the comments!

CRUELTY-FREE 101: MY TOP 5 MAKEUP BRANDS

I did just realise 3 out of the 5 brands are really only accessible in Australia and probably New Zealand.
1. E.L.F Cosmetics
I discovered I could by E.l.f products from elfcosmetics.com.au and it is Australian based so it isn't so expensive for shipping and doesn't take as long, although it is doubled in price due to tax etc (you will find this with all makeup being sold in Australia). I have tried some products, but mostly for eyes and lips, and nothing really for the face. For the price the products are great quality.
My Pick: 3-in-1 (Length, Define & Volumize), Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara, & Eyebrow Filler & Lifter (not shown)

2. Essence
Essence is one of the most affordable, and best quality cosmetics brands (next to E.L.F) and from my knowledge, is accessible in a bunch of countries (check their website here to find out). I get most of my Essence from Target because the Priceline near me doesn't stock it (but a bunch of other Pricelines do). Their products are great quality and are super cheap (probably nothing more than 8 dollars from what I've seen)
My Pick: Match 2 Cover! Cream Concealer

3. Australis
Australian made and owned brand mostly popular for their Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder (you can find my review on it here) and it's my favourite powder yet. Australis has a number of 'dupe, inspired' products from other brands like the Velourlips which is apparently similar to the NYX Soft Matte lip creams, and the Lime Crime Velvetines.
My Pick: Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder

4. Chi Chi
I don't own much Chi Chi (I got my nudes palette set from Target), and it is great quality and is affordable. Their Viva La Diva glosses (I think that's what it's called) smell like vanilla and is so yum.
My Pick: Nudes Palette

5. Natio
I've used a few Natio skincare products and I got a cute makeup set for Christmas in 2012 from my sister with full-size products. All their products are good quality and somewhat high end. I didn't know whether this would be drugstore or high end, because you can get it from Priceline & Myer.
My Pick: Mineral Blusher

QUICK PRICELINE HAUL

My sister and I ordered off Priceline online when they were having a sale on skincare (I'm pretty sure) and the package came in the mail yesterday! She got a bunch of things and I only got two things I was eyeing.

Le Tan - Daily Face Sheer Tint with SPF 30+ - $9.59 (*20% Off)
I was in need of a facial sunscreen and also a BB, tint type of thing because I own no BB creams of foundations! I can already see that it is a bit dark for me but I am going to use it for a few weeks and I will make a review! (It looks like a baby matte version of my Le Tan Gradual Tan aw)

This wasn't on sale but I still wanted it because it is so cheap. Unlike my strawberry cheesecake flavoured lipbalm from this line, this actually smells like cherry. It gives a nice red tint and isn't as sticky as I usually experience with other lipgloss type products.

REVIEW: Le Tan Daily Glow Gradual Tan

Tan Daily Glow Gradual Tan with SPF 15 - $8.49AUD (At LeTan Website)
Le Tan is known in Australia for it's easily accessible and affordable variety of tanners ranging from instant to gradual in mousse, spray, gel, cream and also SPF Oils and Screens and the best thing about them is that they are against animal testing.

After being pale all my life and scared of putting my skin cells in trauma with the harsh rays of the summer sun, and being a complete new kid to tanning, this Gradual Tan seemed the best for me to test out how it works without going all out.

The instructions tell you to apply daily as you would a moisturizer and let it absorb before dressing. The drying time is quick because of the light weight, non greasy formula it is dry in less than a minute.

PROS:

  • Light Weight
  • Spreads easily and evenly
  • Good Packaging
  • Nice Scent (Sunscreen mixed with Vanilla, I think)
  • UVA/UVB Protection
  • Suitable for face application
  • Moisturizing
  • Helps prolong instant tanner colour

CONS:

No Cons

APPLICATOR
I feel like such a rookie and super bad that I didn't do before and after shots of my legs to see if there was a difference. I will take note for future tanning reviews. Sorry!

MY RATING: 8/10
WOULD REPURCHASE? Yes, I do see somewhat of a glow to my skin after a few days, even if it doesn't work for that, it has a great scent and has SPF 15 so it will protect my skin anyway.
