MUSIC FAVOURITES: TOP 4 TRACKS OF 2013

2013 is coming to a end and I decided to share my Top 4 Tracks of 2013 and although there are so many releases I've been listening to this year, I find myself listening to these the most so enjoy this quick read.

IGGY AZALEA - WORK
I am a Iggy Fan. I love Iggy. She is so genuine and so inspiring and this song reflects her past and how she became the person she is today. It's super catchy and my favourite single that she released this year.

KANYE WEST - BOUND 2
Guilty Pleasure song number 1. Honestly I listen to this song almost everyday once his album came out but I didn't see this music video until Seth Rogen & James Franco mocked it and I should of probably linked their video because it's heaps better.

CITIZEN - HOW DOES IT FEEL?
Citizen released their first debut full-length album, 'Youth' this year and it is amazing. I even wrote a creative piece in English inspired by How Does It Feel? The Night I Drove Alone (v lame I know)

DRAKE - HOLD ON, WE'RE GOING HOME
Drake, Drake, Drake. I love you and this song, and your new album. I keep watching Degrassi: The Next Generation these holidays and he's getting to me. I know these lyrics off by heart and it's my jam.

REVIEW: Australis Go Camo Concealer

Recently, Australis released a bunch of new products in a variety of categories such as eyes, lips, face etc and one of the products that caught my eye was this concealer. I will admit, I was intrigued by the name and packaging of camo but I didn't see many reviews so I didn't buy it straight away. But I did a yolo moment and bought it at the 50% off Online Sale Australis was having for a few hours. Anyway, enough back story, I'll talk about this concealer performance wise now.

The Go Camo Concealer comes in three different shades (Light, Medium & Dark) which I guess is pretty basic. The concealer also claims to be 'full on coverage' which I guess I believe. But I do not suggest putting it on your eyelids or even your under eyes (those were my main intentions for buying this product).

First time I used this I discovered it was quite hard to blend. When I apply any concealer I usually put the product onto the parts I want to cover, then blend. I did this, and it could barely move and it stayed straight put on my skin. I guess this is good for staying power and I guess you have to blend straight away. It also looked powdery around my eyes and I had to start my makeup again so I suggest using it to cover imperfections on cheeks/chin/forehead.

PROS:
  • Full on Coverage
  • Can Build Up
  • Three Shades available
  • Decent Packaging

CONS:
  • Hard to Blend
  • Crease on eyes
  • looks cakey
  • looks powdery if setting powder is applied on top

MY RATING: 2/5
I really dislike the finish this gives on any part of my skin and I'm still trying to figure out how to get a smooth finish. Even my Natio Primer doesn't help much. Maybe mixing it with a moisturizer? I really hope I find a way to work with this concealer and get a smooth finish (the finish I predicted - maybe use a sponge?) because I was so excited to try it out and I'm left disappointed. Luckily I didn't buy it full price.

QUICK WOOLWORTHS HAUL

I just went to Woolworths (AKA Safeway, some people still call it that). Anyway, I went with my parents and bought basic food stuff whatever. I am not the food hauler type (not yet anyway), I did include some snacks but that's about it. BTW, all these items were on special so that is why they are such a good price.

Lately I've been interested in fake tan from Le Tan because they're an affordable Australian brand, I didn't want to jump into real fake tan yet and this has SPF, it was on special and it is a good sized bottle.

Never tried this one before, I'm assuming it will either be somewhat good, or shit. The combo is kind of wrong.

I bought two, because 2 for $2. I've had these before and they're good from what I remember.

The cute packaging and strawberry cheesecake intrigued me and I saw the special ticket underneath it saying it was $1.50 so I thought I might try it. I just ate it, and it was pretty good. Has some cookie pieces inside. I would recommend. (*The link for this is linked for the block, I couldn't find the bar on the website*)

We bought some other things for the house that aren't shown in the picture like 3 Original Source handwashes: Raspberry & Vanilla (which makes your hand smell like a pop tart), Mint and Shea & Honey. They were $1.99 each on special so we stocked up on more.

CHRISTMAS: Gifts for the Guys

Continuing my Gifts series to get everyone ready for Christmas, I decided it was time for a 'for him' post. Just letting you know, I don't have a boyfriend, but iffff I did, this is some of the things I would get him (Number 1 & 2 mostly). But this can be for brothers, fathers, nephews, boyfriends whatever male (or female who likes male things).

GTA is a very popular gaming series and the latest game, GTA 5 is a great gift for guys who like to play on their xbox or PS3. If you think Grand Theft Auto won't spark the interest for person you are buying a present for, there are other new releases such as Call Of Duty: Ghosts & Batman: Arkham Orgins or even research a game that you think will appeal to them.

Roshe Runs are by far the most appealing Nikes at the moment in my opinion, and I love them so much because majority of the styles are vegan friendly. You can buy roshes with suede, the ones shown above are made from synthetic materials with no animal products and come in a variety of colours (depends what's in stores ATM)

I got a Ecopure gift set last year for christmas and it is a pretty good brand, unfortunately I've never used the Ecopure Man Range (maybe because I'm a girl) but this is a great gift for travelling and I'm pretty sure the bag included is faux material and unfortunately I cannot find a ecopure page to ask. (I am only assuming because it's a no animal testing brand)

Great gift idea when you don't know what to get someone but don't want to give them just cash. I love getting JB gift cards so I can get a album I've been wanting or a DVD.

I still don't know if it's offensive to give skincare products to someone as a present because if someone gave something to me, I'd assume they thought I have bad skin (I do, but whatever). Probably best to give this to a brother who is in a bad skin period so you can joke about it afterwards because you care about his wellbeing.

CHRISTMAS: Gifts for the young Girls

Having trouble of what to get young girls aged 3-12? I got you covered gurl (or boi), after looking through stores and working in retail, I know what is popular, I know what these crazy chicks need (or what I want) so check out these picks I got for the stereotype, girly girl in the pre-teen phase.

Probably the most inexpensive (dirt cheap, really) product on this post. Perfect little thought for any age, in a variety of four 'flavours' and colours, it's great for a stocking filler. IMO, it doesn't actually taste like strawberry cheesecake but the colour that it gives is really cute and has a bit of glitter.

My work just got a massive amount of Barbie DVDs in stock, a few being Christmas themed and this seems the most generic and most enjoyable for any young girl. Maybe aged 4+? I reckon the end of Barbie phase is 11. But I'm pretty sure even now, no matter how old you are, everyone still enjoys a classic Barbie DVD. And there's like 15435 out there, take your pick. Doesn't have to be holiday themed.

Any person who has a Polaroid Camera is pretty cool, imagine how happy when a girl opens up her present to a cute pastel colour Polaroid Camera? I would probably lose my shit. It's also avaliable in a variety of cute pastel colours, depending on stores.

You have no idea how much I wanted a Walkie Talkie or one of those SMS wireless text messengers that comes in a pack of two, and you give one to your friend and you can text each other. Unfortunately I can't find a Australian website that sells one of them, so this Walkie Talkie must do. It's so cool and I've never had a Walkie Talkie before, surely anyone enjoys using one.

Working in a place where I sell CDs, DVDs and anything in the 'Home Entertainment' section, I am beginning to realise all these parents buying this album for their kids and going on about how much their 8 year old loves One Direction. I'm generalising here and I'm assuming all 8 year old girls love 1D, maybe not? I probably wouldn't if I was them. But I guess you can find out what the girl you're buying for likes. I liked Blink-182 when I was 8, if that helps...

AUSTRALIS HAUL

So last friday (November 29th), Australis had a 50% Sale Online for only one day, 4-9pm. So I picked up a couple of items that I've been waiting to try. I was interested in the CC Cream but there was a mix up when ordering so I ended up getting Make-up Finishing Spritz ($14.95) & Go Camo Concealer ($11.95), hopefully I can make some reviews. I also got a free Australis Mineral Blush Brush (not shown) because you get one with every online purchase, I think I might give it to my mum or a friend considering it's made from goat hair and I'm a bit weird about that stuff.

BEAUTY: How to achieve healthy, long hair

Don't Overheat
Putting excessive heat on your hair by using hair straighteners, hair dryers and hair curlers make your hair brittle and weak when not treated afterwards. Avoid putting heat on your hair all the time and if you have to, use a heat protector to lessen the damage you will get.

Strengthen the Strands
Strengthening Strands is the best sign of Healthy hair, and a natural way to condition and strengthen ends is applying Coconut Oil to dry hair and left overnight, rinse in the morning for soft hair. If you want to get a bit fancy, Lush has a variety of Hair Treatments for different hair types such as Roots Hair Treatment for Fine, Thin Hair and Retread Conditioner which is known for being for Curly, Thick hair.

Seal Split Ends
Split Ends meaning when a hair strand splits into two or more separate strands and sealing split ends is a good method. Lush's Shine So Bright Hair Balm includes Free Range Eggs, Olive Oil and Coconut Oil to strengthen and condition ends.

Vitamins + Iron
When wanting the best for your hair, not only is maintaining it on the outside, but by intaking vitamins it helps on the inside. Using Nature's Own Balance Plus Glow Multivitamin for Skin, Hair and Nails will help maintain and improve your hair, skin and nails!

No over-brushing
Do not brush you hair when it's wet. If you really must, put argan (or some other hair oil) into your hair, and comb through with a wide tooth comb such as EcoTools Bambo Wide Tooth Comb. Brushing = More Breakage and Fall out. Although you are meant to apparently lose 100-200 hair strands a day, they're naturally fall out and hair strands aren't meant to be ripped off like what brushing does.

CHRISTMAS: Gifts for the Girls

Christmas is around the corner and gifts are always thoughtful for either a close friend, sister, or significant other. So I've quickly collected a few items that would be a nice thought. Most are reasonably priced and CF (some products may contain honey).

I have one Mor candle and this may be weird, but I touch the melted wax and it is so smooth because of the soy.

Traveling sized sets are great for testing out things without spending more money on the full size, and it's a great introduction to a brand for the person you're giving it to.

Limited edition Blush is great for winter and although it's expensive for a small thing.

Cheaper alternative to the Naked Pallette, great for someone starting out with makeup or someone who likes netural looks.

Sweet smelling Snow Fairy Shower Gel is avaliable in a variety of sizes, starting as low as 100g for $9.95

COTTON ON HAUL

Every couple of months I decide to make a Cotton On order to restock on some things (mostly stuff in the 'Sale' section) and aim to get the total over $50 so I can get free shipping so all of this (and some small things that aren't shown and I didn't list) costed me around $55 dollars.

EMPTIES: #1

My first ever empties post and I don't have an impressive amount of products for my first time, but I want to test out this kind of post and see if I like how I format it.

My second tube of this and I love how it feels on my skin but I didn't see much of an improvement on my weird, large amount of acne I have mainly on my forehead. I will repurchase because it is natural but at the moment I am testing out other types of acne medication.

Whoops, another acne treatment. I stopped using this for a few months and went onto the tea tree gel, but now I have moved back to test it out and I believe it's working. I apply it by putting some product onto a Q-tip (extreme sanitation) and apply it to the main mother pimples (fuck this sounds gross). I already have another box awaiting it's use.

This product not only smells good and is extremely cheap (when on sale at Chemist Warehouse), it lasted me forEVERR. Honestly, me and my sister were both using it daily and during the last few weeks I was putting a ridiculous amount of it on my loofah to finish it up, but it kept going. I finally finished it and I will repurchased once I finish the hundred other shower gels I have to use.

KMART JEWELRY HAUL

After work I decided to spend some cash on things I've been eyeing. I've been in need for more jewelry lately because my outfits are always really plain, and all the jewelry I own are now ruined. So I went to Kmart and picked up a few things.

3 Pair Gold Hoops - $2
Channeling my inner-wog with these semi-thick gold hoop earrings, not only were they insanely inexpensive they have a variety of sizes.

Gold Chain with Plate - $7
Needed a new gold chain since the $15 dollar one I got from Diva turned silver and green. A reasonable price and it's heavy unlike the Diva one which was lightweight and very plastic.

2X100 Pack of Makeup Remover Pads - $2
I am almost out of my priceline makeup remover pads and these are probably cheaper than the Priceline branded ones (2X100 is $4.99). Not Jewelry, but a necessity.

MUSIC FAVOURITES: OCTOBER

DRAKE – NOTHING WAS THE SAME

Artist: Drake

Album Title: Nothing Was the Same
Favourite Track: Too Much
Rating: 8/10

After I realised Drake was Jimmy from Degrassi I listened to a few of his songs like Girls Love Beyonce & Shut it Down.

On this album it features his single ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’. I will give the music video a 3/5 because I wasn't impressed with A$AP Rocky’s acting (his speaking part was alright, but his ‘distressed, worried’ face isn't believable) and the cute dude from 21 Jump Street (2012 Movie) with the dangly earring was a nice touch, the similarity with 21 Jump Street and this music video is the earring guy died pretty early. I believe the story line of the music video was not really relevant and I think Drake just wanted to use big guns. But yeah, good album to sing to.

SAVIOUR - FIRST LIGHT TO MY DEATH BED

Artist: Saviour
Album Title: First Light To My Death Bed
Favourite Track: Jaded
Rating: 8/10

After discovering Saviour early last year I sort of fan girled over them until I saw them in May last year. But I downloaded their last album which I love, but once this album was released into stores I bought it at JB-HI FI the first day. I do enjoy it, Jaded and Morning are my favourites so far.

Saviour also got signed by UNFD (Popular Post-Hardcore Label in Australia) which was a great achievement and I am missing out on their AA Melbourne show on Saturday (2 November) because I have work :-(.

THE WEEKND - WHOLE DISCOGRAPHY

Artist: The Weeknd
Album Title: Trilogy, The Noise EP, Thursday, House of Balloons etc.
Favourite Track: Wicked Games, Material Girl, Do It
Rating: 9/10

I knew about the weekend for a while but never really got into him until the past few months because he kept popping up on my spotify, either featured in one of Drake's songs or a recommended artist. I downloaded his discography but I haven't gotten his latest album Kiss Land

The reason why I have Trilogy as the artwork featured is due to the amount of tracks in the 3-disc including remastered older tracks from past releases such as House of Balloons & Thursday.

BEAUTY WANTS: NOVEMBER

Being dying to try the NYX soft matte lip cream but due to not being easily accessible at the moment I would love to try Australis new release with pretty much the exact same concept. What appears to be a true red colour would be the perfect product to add to my tiny lip collection.

Another Australis product from their new releases. This concealer promises full-on coverage which will cover my extremely hard to tame dark circles.

I've never really wanted anything badly from benefit because I didn't really get the hype but this kit looks so cute and I'm interested in the 'POREfessional' primer and Hello Flawless Foundation.

Soap & Glory products smell so damn good. I haven't smelt this myself but reviews say it smells delicious. I just ran out of my last body scrub and I feel like I need a new one.

A dupe for Urban Decay Naked Palette except cheaper, probably not as good quality and this company doesn't test on animals. I have absolutely no eyeshadows and I would enjoy neutral tones.

FASHION WANTS: NOVEMBER

I am still rusty in this 'wants' series I am doing at the end of every month for the next month, please bare with me I am trying to see what works here. I quickly did this one when I am really meant to be doing assignments due at the end of the week and next week after Melbourne Cup Weekend. I am already half way through my music favourites I couldn't help but start in the middle of the month because I had a few favourites that stood out. So I hope you enjoy this month's fashion wants, pretty rushed, but whatever.

This looks very busy with all the prints, I personally am not a fan of satanism/black magic and whatever is on this shirt personally but I really like the look of it, would be good for a dress.

Always wanted something that is chic and very sophisticated. I wouldn't get this exact product, but something similar would be nice to wear to special occasions.

River Island Pale Blue Denim Molly Jeggings - $34AUD (At River Island)
In desperate need for new jeans that aren't black. I don't want jeggings, but comfortable skinny jeans with this colour is all I ask. There's something similar at Cotton on but whenever I go into my store it's either not there, or someone is in the way.

I've wanted HUF socks for awhile and these ones are so cute, but unfortunately my mum would not allow me to wear these, especially not in public. Maybe when I move out? lol

Random pick but this is so pretty with the picture and hot pink outline. Wouldn't buy this unless I was super rich and if I was, I don't know where I'd use this for.

MUSIC: Front Porch Step - Drown

Front Porch Step (aka Jake Mcelfresh) received great attention mid-last year on the internet with his song 'Island of the Misfit Boy' with his passionate lyrics, then later signed with Pure Noise.

Front Porch Step's newest song 'Drown', from his 11-track full length album 'Aware' coming out November 12th was released onto Youtube yesterday (24th October) onto his label's channel, Pure Noise Records.

You can now pre-order his album off Pure Noise's Store on LP, CD with a variety of different bundles including shirts, crewnecks, posters.

FASHION: SPORTY HALLOWEEN COSTUME

Halloween is in six days! Unfortunately in Australia we aren't really into Halloween, the only people who get into the season is stores that sell odd Halloween sales, & kids who watch too much american TV. When I was younger I use to try and get into the spirit but it's hard going trick or treating when no one in the neighbourhood is prepared and have no lollies (my house is guilty). Buttt, if you're going to a party or something for Halloween here is a casual and cute outfit I'd go for.

Unfortunately not Vegan (suede) but super cute that will help pull off that cheerleader look.

This affordable cheerleading shirt will have a great fit and available in a variety of colours.

Warm, cute socks to enlighten the spirit

To match your shirt, also avaliable in a variety of colours.

I always include Victoria's Secret Mists although I've never smelt any of them, I just know they smell great.

NEWS: NYX IN STORES IN AUSTRALIA?

Rumors spreading around the internet that supposedly NYX Cosmetics is planning to be sold on Australian Land, in Target! Only article I've seen as of late is this one right here. Obviously the products will be dearer than prices overseas, but it is still a massive deal! Check out NYX Cosmetics' US website to view the wide range of their products.

SKINCARE: Treating Body Acne

Whether it be on your back or your chest or even your BUTT, at some point you have had body acne. Proper treatment of body acne will help decrease the chance of it getting worse and acne scarring.

1. Ecopure Bath Detox Loofah Brush - $14.99AUD (At Priceline)
Something with bristles on a long stick is a good choice considering it's kind of hard to comfortably move a loofah sponge around your back without getting a cramp or not doing a good job. Slightly moisten the brush (or you can leave it dry) and scrub off any dead skin cells.

2. Original Source Lavender & Tea Tree Shower Gel - $1.99AUD (At Chemist Warehouse)

The Lavender and Tea Tree in this shower gel helps fight acne and cleans your skin removing dirt and any bacteria.

3. Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser - $7.69AUD (At Chemist Warehouse)
I am quite aware this is a facial cleanser but I use it on my body lately and it rules because it has Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera which helps with acne! I mix both the Original Source Shower Gel and Sukin Facial Cleanser onto the loofah and rub off all that gross shit on me (oh yeah, I do this all in the shower)

Once out of the shower I wait for my skin to dry, whether it be air dry or towel dry (maybe air dry, towel dry might irritate the skin. I don't know, I'm not your mother do whatever.) Then I spray this toner onto the area of problematic skin.

5. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel For Acne - $10.99AUD (At Chemist Warehouse)
Ok, after reading all this you must see a pattern of Tea Tree. Sorry, Tea Tree is just really good for acne. After the toner has dried apply a pea sized amount of gel to the effected area, or if it's pretty intense - pea sized amount for each individual blemish.

Remember, this will help treat it. To prevent body acne maybe wear breathable, non-tight clothing and please wash yourself frequently.

♡ WEAR PINK ♡

Apart of my Breast Cancer Awareness Month deal, why not show your awareness by wearing pink? All these cruelty-free brands (not including HUF) have cute, vibrant pink toned products to show off your knowledge secretly.

1. Natio Blushing Rose Blusher Palette - $20AUD
A variety of four different pink blushes from Natio can give you different looks throughout October to spread awareness. Plus, Natio mirrors are really good - just saying.

2. HUF Plantlife Crew Socks in Pink/White - $12AUD
I've wanted these socks for ages but my family probably wouldn't allow me wearing cannabis on my socks so. If you can buy these, they're really cute and girly.

3. Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Indulge - $23AUD
Indulge in this barbie-like pink lip gloss from Illamasqua, it comes in a very decent size tube with applicator and will probably make you look like a 10 year old. Or maybe you can pull it off because I really can't pull off a bright pink lip.

4. Victoria's Secret Travel Size Body Lotion in Pure Seduction - $4.25AUD
Smell like Breast Cancer awareness with this nice pink packaged lotion from Victoria's Secret. Never tried it for myself but I've heard everything in Victoria's Secret smells delicious.

BEAUTY WANTS: OCTOBER

So I've done my Fashion Wants for October, now it's my beauty wants (if you haven't noticed, 4 out of 5 of the products are E.L.F lol) Ever since I've found where I could purchase e.l.f to Australia I am addicted because it's so cheap and great quality.

In need for a new foundation since I threw my Maybelline SuperStay 24HR Makeup once I decided I was going Cruelty-Free last year and I am stuck using a Garnier BB Cream (which is not cruelty-free) because I can't find a good foundation/BB Cream for my skin. This foundation is Oil Free and has SPF 15 which would be great for summer.

Another E.l.f Foundation I want because it claims to fight acne. I have bad acne at the moment and this foundation has Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera & Salicylic Acid to help with the acne while also covering them up.

Seeing swatches of this NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream it has a nice finish with nice colours.

I've heard these E.l.f Studio Brush Set is very soft and doesn't shed compare to the other brush line they have. I don't mind spending $50 bucks on the 11 piece brush set because they're synthetic and I think I'll get a lot of use out of them.

I've never been the type of girl to use eyeshadows because I actually suck at applying it and I end up looking like a hot mess when I try, but these baked eyeshadows are so nice looking and I wouldn't mind trying them out. Even if I fail at putting it on, I guess one of my skilled eyeshadow applying friends can help me.

MUSIC FAVOURITES: SEPTEMBER

I thought it would be a good idea to start keeping my music favorites on record. Every month I'd like to share what I have been listening to in that period of time with the reason why I like the track/album/artist whatever and etc. Hopefully this turns out alright, please leave feedback to help me improve!

Artist: Tonight Alive
Album Title: The Other Side
Favourite Track: The Other Side
Rating: 6/10

I've seen Tonight Alive live about two times and their sound is pretty identical to their studio recordings which rule. I started getting into them late 2011 with their release of 'What Are You So Scared Of?' and got my tick of approval once I found out one of their tracks (Thank You & Goodnight) had Mark Hoppus doing guest vocals. I saw them when they toured Soundwave 2012 and then they did a tour a few months later and I saw them at Corner Hotel.

With this new album, The Other Side which was released pretty recently in 2013 is seems different to what they usually do. Don't Wish has some weird Amity Affliction like intro but my favourite song at current time is The Other Side because it's such typical pop lyrics.

Artist: The Amity Affliction
Album Title: Chasing Ghosts
Favourite Track: Open Letter
Rating: 9/10

Already breaking my own rules by mentioning something that I didn't listen to at all in the month of September but I just remembered how great this album is after reflecting about this time last year when I saw them live at Palace Theater.

A lot of intense Amity fans say this album is shit compare to their past releases but I was never really a crazy Amity Affliction fan only until this album came out. This album is pretty dark mostly talking about death and life and suicide (real shit) but during the time this was released and I was listening to this I knew someone who recently passed, although I hardly knew the person it was comforting while my family were grieving.

Seeing them live last year in early October was such a good show, I don't even mind paying $60 for them. I saw two other bands that I were really into during that time (Architects & The Ghost Inside). Every time I listen to this album is so nostalgic because it was quite emotional and their last song (Open Letter) they released confetti and it was the coolest touch. (check out the video above recorded at one of Melbourne's shows on that tour, 10/10 for live performance)
